There are many ways you can influence your children. They say that children are a reflection of who their parents are. If a parent has a sailors mouth, more than likely their children will pick up those habits. Children think that their mom and dad are the smartest, coolest and bravest people on the planet. So in a child's mentality the parents actions are always right.

Actions always speak louder than words. So if you tell your child that reading is fun and they should read, you should show them. You can buy your child enough books to fill up the bookshelf but it won't make a difference if you don't encourage them. Simply telling them to read isn't enough. Reading to them is a great start. Let's be realistic, you don't have time to read as much to your child as they would like. Sometimes kids find a book they love and want it read six times in a row. Encourage them to read on their own. How you can you do this? Pick up a book, a magazine, or a newspaper and read yourself. Read something that interests you while your in the waiting area at the pediatricians office. Time will fly when you do this and your child will want to do the same so he or she can just be like their mommy or daddy.



It's just like when a little girl wants to wear a purse like her mommy or when a little boy wants to shave like his daddy. Your children look up to you and want to be just like you. Take advantage of that and pick up something to read. If you don't want to read something boring like politics and are interested in muscle fitness, then make a trip to Barnes and Noble with your kid(s). You can find a magazine for you and a cool book for them. It may seem simple to you but your child will see it as the coolest moment where they got to do something with you.

Once you get your child used to this reading routine with you, you will have more quiet time for reading for yourself. You can have quiet reading time with your son or daughter. By the time they are young adults you might be asking your child what are some good books that they would recommend.

The term "gender" should not limit any child, male or female, to read only about one specific gender. It actually helps a person to know about different ways of life, cultures, and helps expand the mind freely if there is no restrictions. It's sad, nowadays society has so much influence over what children should and should now be able to read. On the contrary, we should be helping children feel comfortable with who they are and allow them to choose their own desires and styles of books so that they can feel secure so that they can adapt to their own surroundings as they experience new things. We should not deprive anybody in fact to only read certain types of topics. We don't know what the future holds we can only prepare our children to the best way by communication, reading, and through expression. You SHOULD allow the mind to flow by having a versatile outlook on what the world provides. Basically, it's best to have everyone's best interest at heart instead of having a narrow-minded aspect.




Who is to say that males can't have an opinion on love and who is to say that a female can't have her own approach to fixing a car. Some of our best historical writers like the great "William Shakespeare", is known for all his beautifully set love poems, teachings, and is now famous for one of his best works "Romeo and Juliet" which is now used in the English Arts. Let us not forget Danica Patrick, one of the best race-car drivers in society right now, she has great knowledge in cars just as good as any male would, maybe even better. What I'm really trying to get at is that we should never let our children have this mind set that they can't reach for their goals just because society has a biased opinion on it. If they want to become the next famous writer or nascar driver let them be intrigued by THEIR own discoveries and theories. Even if it doesn't pan out to what they expected, at least they were able to learn and grow from their experience. There is no harm in trying it will only benefit them it will only lead them to the life they truly want to live in the end. Like they say, "If at first you don't succeed, you must try again".

They say that gender roles often shape the way a male or female expresses their emotions but that is because of how we limited their readings when they were growing up. It's never to late to change the way we think, there are always chances to start new, grow, and take every bit of experience into effect. By striving for equality we are ensuring that this world offers anything we set our hearts and minds to. That we should never discriminate against gender because we are no better than anyone else than ourselves. Times are changing, no longer are only males superior, women are just as equal. So with that said, have an open heart and mind to the things our children want to read. The best thing is to allow them to do things they LOVE so that one day they can look back and remember all the different lessons, trials, and experiences they have been able to grasp throughout their lifetime.

I know with all this technology now a days people tend to think that reading is pretty much pointless. Why read a book for fun when you can watch a movie or play a game. Everything is so fast pace that people don't have the patience to read a newspaper and will just have their DVR record the news for them. I think reading helps build a greater picture for a person's future. Starting off a child with reading at an early age will expand your child's abilities in THEIR future. I don't know about y'all but I would love to take a have a say in building my child's future! I would have bragging rights forever! "Oh he is so intelligent cuz I would always read to him" or "I know he is so successful right....it's cuz I would always read to him and you would always catch mijo with a book in his hand".

The best way to get a child understanding words and begin their speech is by reading. There are many kids that begin speaking at a late age because their parents speak for them. If you stop to think about it, it's much easier to speak for your child than to try to figure out what they are trying to say, or to stop and teach them to say a word and show them what the word means. Reading to them will introduce them to a good vocabulary. As they grow they will learn more and more words and they'll eventually surprise you out with these big words that you wouldn't think your child could possibly know.

Aside from jump starting their vocabulary, they would be able to express themselves and communicate well with others. when reading a wide range of books, children will get to see how different authors choose to express themselves or how they describe certain situations. Every child has his or her own personality and they'll pick up on certain styles that catch their attention from different writers. They'll be influenced by these different writers. Having a good communication is important in many ways. A family doesn't work well together without communication. Whether he is an employee or an entrepreneur, he needs to be able to communicate with colleagues in order to be successful in his or her career.

Reading to your child at an early age will also help them expand their imagination. They hear all these wild stories about dragons and flying monkeys that are impossible to happen in the real world. This will help them realize that nothing is impossible. It will expand their mind to new possibilities in this world. Technology has advanced so much due to the people that made the impossible come true. People never thought that we would be able to fly until they invented the airplane. A telephone line was the only way to reach a person and now everyone and their mom has a phone that can talk back to you, give you directions and play music. None of this would be possible without the creators coming up with an idea that was outside the box. Children's minds are like a sponge. This is the time to feed them with as much knowledgeable information as possible.

So if you would please just pick up a book once in awhile, to read a book here and there, it would be life changing to your child and even to you. Hellooo, if you have successful children, they could buy you nice things for Christmas or pick up the tab when you go out for dinner. There are so many advantages to reading that there really is no reason not to read to your child!
